My least favorite book and movie genres are probably horror, crime drama and superhero. With horror, sometimes I'll read or watch something and enjoy it (example: Uzumaki) but then think about it later and realize that I would have been better off cheering myself up with a comedy. My aversion of crime drama I can't really explain, it just sort of bores me and makes me wonder why criminals can't just try following some fucking laws for once. And I don't like superhero because recently most of the works involving superheros have attempted to become "dark and gritty" which strikes me as pretentious since it's trying to apply that kind of feeling to characters who were first introduced in kids comics in the 1930s or 1940s or whatever. Even superhero movies that don't try to be dark strike me as dumb.

However, I'm always willing to make exceptions. So far I haven't seen/read a crime drama or superhero movie/book that I've found memorable, however I've read the horror manga Uzumaki that I liked because of it's surrealism and gory illustration.

I will feel left out of discussions regarding any of these genres. I'm left out of most movie discussions anyways since I don't watch very many movies ;_;

ok so i got this idea for a shooter game

you control a ship that can't actually fire it's own weapons, it can only fire a beam that grants you control of an enemy ship if it hits.

so you control the enemy ship with wasd and the main ship with arrow keys, and you have to move both in order to dodge enemy attacks. your captured enemy ship can fire at other enemy ships. if your captured ship gets killed though it's okay because you just get your beam back and you can control another ship. you can't let your main ship die however

and in order to control more powerful enemies you have to charge up your beam or collect power ups or something

once i get back from subway i'm going to fire up game maker and make a demo/engine for this

those are the new 2010 olympic mascots i have to invent for art class

so i was walking home today and a lady gave me a copy of the bhagavad gita which is one of the most important hindu religious texts.

i haven't gotten to reading it yet, but i was looking through the illustrations. one that stuck out to me was the one that shows that if you commit certain sins (such as sloth, lust, gluttony, and... barbequeing? it showed a picture of a guy BBQing meat. is that bad?) you get reincarnated as a corresponding animal (bear, tree? pig, and tiger respectively. i don't get how a tree is supposed to represent lust)

so basically it says being reincarnated as an animal is a bad thing. it says if you sink to the animal level of committing sins and living your life badly, you have to be an animal in the next life.

i don't see how it's a punishment though. for example, it would be pretty awesome being a bear. i'd be a top-level predator, and i'd get to eat salmon all day and shit. also nobody would be hunting me and shit because of wildlife conservationists. so it's alright. being a human on the other hand is shitty, you have to deal with a complex web of emotions and social obligations that you weave throughout your life, you have to work hard for people you don't give a shit about, etc.

so i'm gonna be super lazy and get reincarnated as a bear and then eat you all bitches. that shit's boss

i might start meditating though. it could be nice
